With this still life painting, I was inspired by casually observing the way the morning light interacted with some objects on the kitchen table over breakfast.  This one is as much about the way the light interacts with the bottle, the mandarin, and the pewter plate they are sitting on.  Here we are looking towards the daylight, and observing how it reflects off the surfaces, and refracts through the glass creating unexpected shapes and patterns.  My job as painter was then to follow these cues and build a beautiful painting.
