In the heat of a Summer’s afternoon in Florence, I chose to paint this view looking down the Arno, towards the historic centre.  Covered up against the sun’s rays as best I could, I really wanted to capture that sense of the Italian heat in the city, as the sun reflected on the low waters of the river.
