There are mornings in the studio, where I can spend ages trying to arrange the perfect set up for a still life painting.  In this case, I knew the painting was going to be on a small scale, so I knew it was going to be a quite a limited one.  Almost straight away, as soon as the halved lemon was down, the small bowl acted as a good counter point,  the addition of the jar in the background allowed me the chance to break up the dark background colour with some reflected daylight.
