The Marina, with canoeist

Back in Cork for a Christmas trip, I was able to take my plein air kit to the banks of the river Lee, at the Marina. This is the point where the river widens out into the lower reaches of Cork harbour. A classic location for inspiration, a place of familiarity and contemplation. In the distance the cranes of the harbour workings tell a story of commerce and shipping. In the foreground a canoeist exercising in the cold January morning air.
